The inaugural 2017 /ovg/ FantasyGP season was the beginning of a long history in fantasy gaming for /ovg/.  Although many came and sought to challenge for the title, a few stood out as contenders for the 2017 /ovg/ FantasyGP World Fantasy Management Champion, including the [[cheating nigger]] Isaac "''I swear I'm in another competition for real money''" Gonzales, Barney "''I won't come second this time''" Gumball, d "''every week is apparently a just cut for me but I'm still in contention for the championship''" prec and Marko "''let me tell you about how great rally is''" Tulska.

Barney led the into the final deciding race by 30 points ahead of Isaac and a 61 point lead ahead of Marko.  Luckily, the Abu Dhabi race was extremely boring and uneventful, meaning Barney clinched the championship with 33 points to spare, [[cheating nigger]] took 2nd and dprec scored the most points for the weekend and edged himself in front of Marko to take 3rd in the championship.

Initially, Barney spent an entire 2 hours writing a Python script to calculate the highest scoring driver and team combinations.  Clearly he was trying to hard and was under investigation for being a [[cheating nigger]].  Fortunately, it was a little bit funny and was soon followed up by STiGuy's Free and Open Source Microsoft Excel spreadsheet licensed under GPL but, while it was freely available for anyone to use, it's questionable whether anyone cared enough to look at it.
